Twitter draining Hashtags and @replies? How true this really is!

The hashtags and @reply have been a prominent part of Twitter, but rumors just coming in depict the going away of these. Buzzfeed recently found that @replies will not be a part of the iterations of the Android apps by Twitter.

Executives at Twitter, meanwhile keeping this a secret, say these are going nowhere. Possibly, Twitter is thinking about churning new ways to organize Tweets by topics or categories and present replies in a more useful and easily readable way.

In the meantime, Twitter world this week went abuzz, following news cascading newer partnerships ahead. Also, some believe that hashtags and @replies on Twitter are mysterious elements of the service. The site is even working on moving the Twitter scaffoldings into the background.

The company in reply to this said, content of Twitter is being brought forward while pushing the scaffolding of the language of this social network to the background. This aims at increasing high-quality interactions, while making it more likely that new users find this service as crucial as the existing users do. Introduction of media forward timelines and in-line social actions in October are initial steps depicting the apt performance of the initiatives.

Meanwhile, experts here commented that hashtags and @replies are not going anywhere; in fact newer and intuitive approaches are being inculcated to enhance user experience manifolds.

Twitter currently might not be removing the @ replies, which can make the long replies very confusing, but its surely testing the same. For, further news on this part, stay tuned and keep coming back for more.

New updated WhatsApp for Android will give users freedom to hide “last Seen” status and more

WhatsApp recently rolled out its newest update for Android, adding new privacy settings for any device which runs on Android 2.1 version or higher.

This new setting will now give users the freedom to hide the “last seen” notification and status and also the profile photo by making slight changes in privacy settings. For this to get started, users would first need to download the latest version of WhatsApp from Google Play store. The updated application will show the new privacy options in the menu displayed under account settings. So, far the new settings will help in hiding all three of these details for everyone or people who are not in the contact list or even from few selected users. The feature meanwhile has been seen to be present already on all iOS devices.

The newly updated WhatsApp for Android now comes with more choices to save or share the profile picture or the group icon. Another add-on which might seem interesting is the service payment feature, where users can now pay for the WhatsApp service being used by their friends. For this users will first need to see the contacts, check the contact information of that particular user, press menu option, where the option for making payment on a user’s behalf is displayed.

Another new add-on is the new option which will show unread messages, which can be directly seen on the home screen widget for devices that run on Android 3.0 or higher versions. Another change includes a shortcut for camera which will help in taking pictures and sending them more quickly and also help with large thumbnail pictures while chatting. Also, there will be now an option to increase the message history which can be send by a user.

The new update will also cover the few existing bugs seen on some devices. This is especially in reference to the volume bug seen in Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which has now been fixed. Also, support for the Hindi language has been started on Sony Xperia phones which run on Android 4.1 version or higher.

First tablet to combine Windows 8.1 and 64 bit unveiled from HP

HP unveiled its newest tablet named as the new 64-bit ElitePad, describing a Windows 8.1 tablet empowered by the Bay Trail Chip of Intel, which will now go 64 bit.

This new ElitePad 1000 packs Windows 8.1 with 64 compatibility, also inside are a LTE/4G modem, which is pretty unusual for Windows tablet till day.

Hewlett Packard, HP, has bagged the place of being the first one to offer 64 bit in a tablet running Windows 8.1 and making use of the latest mobile processor from Intel.

HP made announcement of HP ElitePad 1000 just recently, which has been described as the upgraded and revamped version of the 64 bit HP ElitePad. The tablet can be bought in the month of March. The features you can grab hold of include a quad-core Bay Trail processor, 64 GB or 128 GB storage, Qualcomm Gobi 4G LTE and a high resolution display of 10.1 inch.

Dell, following the footsteps of HP, is touted to release the updated version of Venue tablets in the 64 bit mode soon.

Meanwhile, Windows tablets running on the newest processors from Intel, which have been redesigned, from brands like Dell, Lenovo. HP, Toshiba and Acer have run only on the 32-bit mode. The biggest and most obvious reason of shifting to the 64 bit slot was to provide increased memory, which goes ahead of the 4 GB limit, which is typical to a 32 bit application. But, there are other reasons being quoted as well.

The demand for 64 bit has seen ample momentum in recent times as IT organizations now wish to standardize on 64 bit apps and 64 bit images.

In the meantime, a handful of laptop-tablet hybrids which are Intel Haswell-based, like the Dell Venue 11 Pro and Surface Pro 2, run in the 64 bit version, but these are more closer to a laptop than a tablet. Also, the dimensions are bulkier for a tablet, thus drifting away the whole look and feel from a tablet.
The race of 64 bit devices entering the market has seen ample gain just after Apple made announcement of its 64 bit A7 processor that will be present in the iPad Air, iPhone 5 and iPad Mini Retina, which the company said in 2013.

New software-Gyrus, will help in preventing online banking scams

Becoming victim of an online money transfer fraud has turned into a common thing today, which many users face on almost daily basis. The need for a software that can block unauthorized commands during money transfer, thus seems imperative. To address just this need of users, a new software is now being developed.

Named as Gyrus, it’s a prototype software designed by researchers at Georgia Tech, which is extra cautious in preventing malware from sending spam emails and instant messages.

Gyrus appears to be present a transparent security layer on top of a window application. If Gyrus finds any tampering in the user-intended data, the traffic is blocked and user notified instantly.

The protection programs that exist are capable in recognizing the original user’s objective to transfer money online, send email or get involved in other transactions, but these are unable in verifying the specifics like amount of money and content of the email.

The lack of context makes it difficult in verifying the full intent of the user, irrespective of the fact that the software is protecting the money transfer, an industry-specific system or a broad range of user-driven applications.

The research at Georgia Tech aims at observing most part of text-based applications, helping the user objective get displayed on screen as text. This will help the user in making changes, if any info on screen is not what he or she actually wants.

As per researchers who created the same, Gyrus is based on WYSIWYS policy, which stands for “What You See Is What You Send”.

The idea of defining apt application behaviors by capturing the user’s aim is not totally new, but past attempts made on this front have resulted in simple model of the user’s behavior.

Gyrus, meanwhile, will capture richer semantics that cover both text contents and the user actions, alongside applications semantics; this will help the system in sending only user-intended network traffic.

Gyrus, indirectly will help in correctly determining the user purpose from the screen, which is displayed to the user.
