Following the footsteps of Samsung, Google, and Asus, HP is
now also manufacturing and selling Chromebox. For those who don’t know what the
Chromebox are; well, Chromebox is a personal computer that runs on Google’s
Chrome operating system and is equivalent to Chromebook laptop. This means that
the Chromebox supports only one single application, a browser, and relies on
internet for functionality and data storage.
HP started selling its Chromebox in June for $179 and up.
The specs of HP Chromebox include: Chrome OS, Intel i7 or Celeron processor,
upto 8 GB DDR3L memory, Intel HD Graphics, 16GB SSD storage, 802.11n WIFI
Connectivity, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth Support, SD card reader, 4 USB ports,
headphone and mic jacks etc. However, despite the company’s claim, the HP
Chromebox does have a fan.
Meanwhile, the company also gave an option to the users to
buy the HP Chromebox with a keyboard and mouse for $199. The advantage of the
keyboard and mouse is that they are both wireless and have keyboard features that
are designed specifically for the HP Chromebox.
